Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 12 Oreo cookies broken into pieces
  • 0.5 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.125 tsp kosher salt

Equipment

  • 1 3-quart saucepan
  • 1 immersion blender

Method

  1. Add the milk and Oreo pieces to a 3-quart saucepan and warm over medium heat, whisking occasionally, until steaming and the cookies are softened, 5 to 7 minutes; do not let the mixture boil.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and blend with an immersion blender until smooth.
  3. Whisk in the chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and salt until the chocolate is melted.
  4. If needed, return the pan to low heat for 1 to 2 minutes to serve hot.

Notes

For the smoothest texture, keep the milk mixture from boiling. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended. For a dairy-free option, use unsweetened oat milk and dairy-free chocolate chips.
